When You Pray

When You Pray

Series start date: October 30th, 2022

Someone said, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” Prayer is a practice where disciples of Jesus communicate with God. The practice of prayer is modeled throughout scripture and followers of God are repeatedly encouraged to pray regularly. As we draw close to the end of the year, we will be invited to participate in a 28-day prayer challenge.

While we are inundated with plenty of personal items and issues to bring before God, we are not exempt from the call to pray for one another. The book of Acts contains many episodes of the early church engaging in communal prayer. We will explore an example in this sermon.

    Preaching

Prayer offers us an opportunity to get really personal with God. Are you struggling with pain? Take it to the Lord. Are you caught up in sin? Take it to the Lord. Are you stressed out and frustrated? Take it to the Lord. Do you feel like you’re in danger? Take it to the Lord. In this sermon, we will be encouraged to get honest, real, and personal with God.

    Preaching

When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he refrained from offering complicated and confusing instructions. Instead, he gave them a simple prayer to pray. In this first sermon of our prayer series, we will consider Jesus’ simple prayer and invite the entire church to participate in a simple daily prayer for the next 28 days.
