The Table

Communion at Corinth had become a place of humiliation. The wealthy ate first and ate well while others went hungry, and Paul says their gatherings were doing more harm than good. So he takes them back to the night Jesus was betrayed and to the words that still shape our table. To discern the body is to recognize both the body of Christ broken for us and the body of Christ seated around us. This message invites us to come to the table honestly, together, and without pretense, because the table was never a reward for the worthy.
