Mind Body Spirit
We close the Christian year and prepare for advent by considering our desire for healing and wellness. Health and wellness is a multi-billion-dollar business. Tons of products are marketed to men, women, and children in an effort to address their mental, physical, and spiritual ills. This series is not an attempt to debunk the claims of these products, but rather explore God’s interest in the mental, physical and spiritual wellness of his children. We will conclude each sermon with a passionate and prayerful appeal to God for healing.

In addition to a longing to be well in mind and body, we also thrive for spiritual wellness. Some could say this is the ultimate endeavor of all our pursuits. Spiritual wellness is embodiment and embrace of the greatest truth (God loves us) and the Greatest command (Love God and Love Others).

The Health and Wellness industry boasts an economy valued at 4.5 trillion dollars. People all over the world spend money to lose weight, stay fit, eat healthier, look younger and manage diseases. As Christians, we find ourselves praying continually for those who have diseases, pain and other issues with the body. Our bodies are called “temples of the Holy Spirit”. Accordingly, we should not balk at ways to be and live healthy lives. In addition, praise God that he has invited us to call on him to heal us when our bodies suffer injury, pain, or disease.

Preaching
In recent years, there have been a surplus of celebrities and athletes who have gone public with their battle with mental illness. What has become public due mostly to their status in society is a battle that many are dealing with but are afraid to admit it. The stigma associated with mental illness often hinders Christians from addressing their illness and asking for help and healing. In this message, we will consider a real-life struggle with mental illness and explore the Biblical character of Elijah, who also dealt with mental illness. We will also make a plea to God for healing of the mind.
