Paul reaches back to Israel in the wilderness, a people who saw the sea part and still built a calf. He warns the Corinthians that idolatry is not a primitive problem but a persistent one. Modern idols rarely look like statues. They look like careers, comfort, approval, politics, appetite, and image. They promise life and slowly take it. This message helps us name what is quietly claiming our devotion and calls us back to the only table that can hold us. What we worship shapes who we become.
