In June 2006, Casa de Esperanza ("House of Hope") opened in the town of Santa Ana Honduras, 25 kilometers south of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. Casa de Esperanza is the home of Jen Wright and Karen Vaughan, two ladies from the Belpre Church of Christ.
This beautiful home is a haven for some of the poor, abused, and abandoned children in Honduras. Currently, there are 15 young children living at Casa de Esperanza ranging in age from 2 to 10. Jen and Karen live there and take care of these special kids.
Some of their stories are:
- Five young brothers whose father is in jail for homicide and whose mother was so poor that she could not take care of them.
- A young lady who suffered severe abuse at the hands of a family member.
- Two brothers around 10 years old who were living on the streets and falling into the world of fighting off the pain of starvation by sniffing glue.
Now they have hope and receive love and care like little children should. They are no longer hungry or hurt. They are getting an education, and every day they are learning about the Lord who loves them. Jen and Karen hope to care for up to 24 children.
If you want to find out more about this mission, you can go to:
- The Casa de Esperanza Website: cdehonduras.org
- Jen Wright's blog spot: calledandcompelled.blogspot.com
- Karen Vaughan's blog spot: kdvaughan.blogspot.com
Jen and Karen give lots of updates about the kids and what is going on in the home.
Today, Casa de Esperanza is in need of support. Casa is 100% funded by private donations. The government of Honduras of course provides nothing toward the care of these children. Some of the early support from other sources to get the home started is no longer available. Thus, this is a time of need for this mission.
Next week we will be asking if you can support Casa de Esperanza. If you wish to support it in the future, you can contact one of the Reynoldsburg Honduras team, contact Jen Wright at jenwright28@gmail.com or send a check to:
