Lately when we talk of mission work, we automatically think of Guyana or Honduras and the needs there. But there are also some needs in our own backyard. There are hungry, lost people right outside our doors.

Reynoldsburg Helping Hands used to regularly serve about 35 families a month. In April, the number increased to 50 to 60 families a month, said Suzanne Read, chairwoman of the volunteer organization's board. Read said the increase seemed to coincide with the spike in gasoline prices over the summer. Most of the people served by Reynoldsburg's ministry work but struggle to make ends meet.
"They have an illness or a car repair and get behind. I am sure the situation is not unique," Read said.

On Saturday, August 25th at 5:00 p.m., we will be offering a meal of soup and sandwiches in the fellowship hall to needy families in the Reynoldsburg area. We will also give out bags of groceries. We need your help! If you can serve in one of the following areas, please see Wendy Brown. There is also a sign up sheet in the foyer.

• Soup to serve on August 25th
• The following food pantry items (we already have quiet a few canned items): spaghetti sauce, pastas, canned meats (tuna, ham, chicken, etc.), & macaroni and cheese (or monetary donations may be made to buy needed items). These food items may be placed on the table in the kitchen.
• Servants needed on August 25th to serve meals and visit with guests.

Also, we need volunteers to join the Reynoldsburg Local Mission Team. We will be meeting Saturday, June 28th at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall to discuss the needs of Reynoldsburg and surrounding communities and where to direct mission efforts. Most of all, please PRAY for this outreach - specifically for the people we will be serving. They may not know this yet, but their spiritual hunger far outweighs their physical hunger.
